There is no consensus on the necessity of adjuvant chemotherapy and the selec-tion of surgical procedures for patients with early stage lung cancer. Few studies have investigated the treatment for early stage ASC. Adenosquamous cancer of the lung (ASCL) is a rarely encountered malignancy. Its rate of occurrence was reported between 1.5 and 4.5% in various surgical series in the literature.[1-6] According to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification declared in 2004, the adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) components may be named as adenosquamous cancer if each type represents more 1987-11-01 Adenosquamous carcinoma – This form of lung cancer contains at least 20% of components from lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Owing to the infrequent occurrence of this disease, no series reported to date (and to our knowledge) has been of adequate size for definitive statistical analysis. Adenosquamous carcinoma of the lung (ASC) is a subtype of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), containing components of lung adenocarcinoma (ADC) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Most of these grow slowly. For more information about these tumors, see Lung Carcinoid Tumor.5 Other lung tumors: Other types of lung cancer such as adenoid cystic carcinomas, Patients diagnosed with squamous‐cell carcinoma, adenosquamous carcinoma, or large‐cell carcinoma were enrolled for further analysis. Pathological diagnosis was based on the criteria of the World Health Organization classification system. 24 Briefly, squamous‐cell carcinoma comprises tumors with <10% adenocarcinoma component.

Materials and Methods. Using next-generation sequenc-ing, we tested 450 cancer-related genes in a 27-year-old patient’s lung adenosquamous carcinoma and matched In our previous analysis for EGFR mutation in 397 cases of NSCLCs, we found somatic mutations in 2 cases for EGFR and 1 for K‐ras out of 6 adenosquamous carcinomas by direct sequence of exon 18–21 for EGFR and codon 12 and 13 for K‐ras genes. 13, 14 The rates of EGFR mutation in each histology of lung cancer are shown in Table I. In certain cancers, age plays a central role. This is especially true with carcinomas, the risk of which increases with age. According to the National Cancer Institute, the median age of diagnosis for breast cancer is 61 years old, 68 years old for colorectal cancer, 70 years old for lung cancer, and 66 years old for prostate cancer. Adenosquamous lung carcinoma is similar to these medical conditions: Basaloid squamous cell lung carcinoma, Lung cancer, Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma of the lung and more.
